Association launches 'Alumni in the Classroom' program
The BSC Alumni Association is launching "Alumni in the Classroom" to introduce BSC students to alumni from various fields."We want to welcome alumni onto our campus and into the classroom to personally share information on their careers and the value of a BSC education," said Jason Matthews, alumni coordinator. "Students will be able to meet alumni and catch a glimpse of the 'real world' beyond college."
Matthews will work with faculty to make arrangements for visits.
"Our alumni are our best ambassadors and a vital resource. This is an ideal opportunity to bring those star students back to campus and connect them with tomorrow's alumni," Matthews said.

Alumni Association Launches Strategic Plan
From BSC ConnectionsThe BSC Alumni Association board of directors made history at its annual meeting in August, when it adopted the association's first-ever strategic plan. The plan, "A New Beginning," was drafted this summer by a special committee of alumni directors. "The work that the planning committee put into this is remarkable," says Alumni Association chairman Brent Ekstrom, who headed the committee. "The plan defines the association's mission, beliefs and guiding principles and establishes three main goals for the next three years: membership recruitment and retention, programs and projects."
Among the plan's innovative proposals is a unique program, the 1939 Society. The society is named for the year BSC was founded and alumni may become lifetime members of the association for a one-time gift of $1,939. Portions of each tax-deductible donation will be allocated to an individual's lifetime dues with the remaining funds placed in the new Alumni Legacy Fund. Earnings from the fund will support and sustain programs such as the new mentorship program, the Alumni in the Classroom series, and the BSC Alumni Legislative Advocacy Network. Opportunities will now be available for alumni to leave their mark on campus through projects that will beautify and enhance campus grounds while honoring alumni.
"This plan sets a course for our association's future by more closely integrating our alumni in the life of BSC," says Jason Matthews, BSC alumni coordinator. "This plan will help grow the association, take it to the next level, and make the Alumni Association a full partner in BSC's future."
