Snow/Ice Removal Procedure

Bismarck State College will at all times take a proactive approach to snow and ice removal on campus. The safety of employees, students and general public is to be considered at all times when it's necessary to remove snow/ice.

Snow removal on campus will be done on sidewalks with a light dusting of snow and parking lots when accumulations are above 1" of snow.

Snow removal procedures for parking lots and sidewalks will be initiated by Vic Hilsendeger. All employees assisting with snow removal will be directed by Vic. The following employees will be called as needed to assist with removals. Custodial staff may be called if necessary.

Custodians in respective buildings are to maintain doorways and adjacent sidewalk areas free of snow and ice during the normal work shifts and during special events.

Record Keeping

A log is to be maintained on all snow removal activities. Record date, type of activity (snow removal, sanding, sidewalks, etc) time it started and ended, location of activity and who completed. Click Here to Print Out the Snow Ice Removal Log

Snow/ice removal is to be a top priority during winter months to insure the safety of everyone. At all times Bismarck State College employees are to notify the Physical Plant office of any potential hazard areas and are to be taken care of immediately.
