Academic support services are available in the Sykes
Student Success Center located in the hallway between the
Leach Music Center and the Jack Science Center. Students
receive small group tutoring from both degreed and peer
learning assistants. Tutoring may be supplemented with
audio-visual materials and computer assisted instruction.
These services are free and available on a "drop-in" basis
for all BSC students. Tutoring schedules can be viewed on the
Academic Support Services
Web site or picked up in the Center.
Study skills seminars are held each semester to
maintain student success and increase student retention.
Schedules of dates and times for these seminars can be
viewed on the Web site or picked up in the Center. For those
students who cannot attend scheduled seminars, individual
sessions may be arranged by calling (701) 224-5468.
Effective Study Skills presentations are available on
the academic support services Web site. Also available on
the Web site are handouts pertaining to various learning
strategies.
For more information, call (701) 224-5468.
FACULTY ADVISOR
Students are assigned to a faculty member who will
serve as an advisor while the student is enrolled at the College.
In most cases the advisor will be an instructor in the
course of study that the student has chosen. In addition to
general advising on education and career plans, advisors
assist students with the registration process.
