Northern Plains Writing Workshop
Sensing a Story - Writers will "follow their nose to find a story" and explore different ways we perceive and tell stories. We'll dive into activities, poems, and stories that awaken our senses, and create writing that is full of life. Come ready to write, investigate, and enjoy a challenge with some great classmates and fun instructors. BSC Armory 132
Session A - June 3-6 (Tuesday-Friday): 9:00 am-12:00 pm, Ages 8-11, Cost: $50/student
Session B - June 10-13 (Tuesday-Friday): 9:00 am-12:00pm, Ages 12-15, Cost $50/student

Detective Camp
In this camp, kids will learn about collecting evidence, meet the canine unit, and go on tours of the police department, courthouse, judge's chambers and take part in many hands-on activities. Children will solve a crime by going through the entire legal system. A suspect will commit a crime and the students will put the evidence together to catch the criminal.
June 23-27 (Monday-Friday): Ages 9-12, Cost $75/student, BSC Student Union Dakota Room

Storm Chasers and Severe Weather Camp
Students will learn about severe weather including thunder storms, hail, tornados, blizzards and much more. Topics included in the camps are frontal systems, cloud formations, and weather patterns. Students will tour the National Weather Service, look at a weather balloon, and "broadcast" the weather at a local TV station.

Bodily Functions, Aren't They Great?
Are you curious about the human body and how it works? Perhaps you want to be a doctor someday. During this camp we will explore the parts of the body, what they are, and how they work. We will do some fun activities and study some anatomy and physiology.
June 9-12 (Monday-Thursday): 8:00-11:00 am, Ages 9-12, $60/student,

Blood, Bacteria And Beyond!
Students will have a hands on opportunity to learn how clinical laboratory scientists perform tests on blood and other body fluids. They will run a few of the tests which are used to diagnose disease, identify bacteria and fungi, make sure blood is safe for transfusion and detect the presence of drugs in a patient. Laboratory scientists provide valuable diagnostic information that saves lives. Lab coats and gloves will be provided.

Hands In Clay
Do you want to get your hands dirty? Students will have a chance to learn about the history, science and social aspects of using clay for artistic expression. The focus of this class will be hands on making clay objects. Traditional hand-building clay techniques will be explored with time given for the students to try out the pottery wheel.
June 16-19 (Monday-Thursday): 8:30 am-12:00 pm, Ages 9-12, $75/student, Werner Hall 212

Scrubs Camp
Would you like to become a nurse or see what happens during a real surgery? At scrub camp you can learn about the role of a nurse and a surgical technologist. We will listen to the heart and lungs and play lots of fun nursing games where you will learn about the body (with great prizes)! See what a real operating room looks like, where you will learn how to perform a surgical hand scrub and get the supplies and patient ready for a mock surgery. We will provide you with a scrub shirt so you can dress like a real surgeon, nurse or surgical technologist.

Allied Health Center is located at 500 East Front Ave, please park on the east end of the building and take stairs to the second floor.

Chempspiration!
Join us while we "Have a Ball with Chemistry!" This year's Chemspiration workshop will focus around the chemistry of sports including a basic understanding of the materials, design, and safety improvements in sports/sporting equipment made possible through chemistry as well as the importance of hydration and good nutrition for athletes. No special uniform or athletic ability required!!! Students will also be introduced to basic laboratory safety, common laboratory techniques, and many genuinely fun activities and experiments that may spark your students' interests in science!
July 7-10 (Monday-Thursday): 1:00-4:00 pm, Ages 9-12, $75/student, Jack Science Center 313

Welding Camp
In this camp, students will learn the fundamentals of oxygen acetylene welding, shielded metal arc (stick) and gas metal arc welding. We will also include shop safety. Supply fee $20, Welding Gloves, $5.
