National Energy Center of Excellence Nearing Completion!
NECE Center The National Energy Center of Excellence (NECE) is nearing completion. Situated on a hill on the southeast edge of campus, the spacious NECE has a physical prominence that reflects BSC's national reputation as a leading provider of training for the energy industry. BSC's five energy technology programs, as well as related faculty and staff, will be located in the NECE. Labs will be equipped with the latest technology, and on-campus students will have twice as much lab space for instruction. The longest-running programs, Power Plant Technology and Process Plant Technology, are taught on-campus and online. Other online programs are Electric Power, Electrical Transmission Systems and Nuclear Power technologies. This new center will also serve as a national resource center of education and training for the energy industry. The 106,200 square-foot building will also house BSC's Division of Continuing Education, Training and Innovation, which includes the state's Southwest Workforce Training Center. An area will be dedicated to business incubation. Phase I of construction began in July 2005, and the building is on target to be ready in June 2008.
