Psychologists study and explain animal and human behaviors including mental processes. Often psychologists
apply this knowledge to optimize people's lives. The purpose of BSC's psychology curriculum is to enhance knowledge
and understanding of human behavior for students 1) entering the work force, 2) seeking service courses in psychology
as a non-major and/or 3) preparing to transfer and pursue a four-year degree in psychology.
Students may complete the first two years of study toward a bachelor’s degree in psychology by following the
suggested curriculum for an Associate in Science degree or an Associate in Arts degree. Bachelor degree requirements
at four-year colleges/universities vary, therefore, students should modify this curriculum according to a specific transfer
school catalog. Additionally, BSC and Minot State University have a cooperative agreement that allows students to
complete a bachelor's degree in psychology from Minot State University on the BSC campus.
Career Possibilities: Those with a bachelor's degree are qualified to assist psychologists and other professionals in community and research settings. Areas of emphasis for career possibilities beyond bachelor degree include: Clinical/Counseling, Educational/Teaching, Experimental/Research, Organizational/Industrial, Social, Developmental,
Psychometrics (testing), Neuropsychology, and Vocational Rehabilitation.
