Financial Aid is available for students who are enrolled at BSC as a "regular" student working toward a degree or certificate in an eligible program at Bismarck State College. All admission requirements must be met as outlined in the Bismarck State College Catalog.

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the application for financial aid. This application is available from any high school counselor's office or college financial aid office. It is also available on the Web at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

Financial Aid Disbursement

  • Enrollment requirements: Financial aid disbursements are based on a student's actual enrollment status as of the seventh day of classes: Fall and Spring enrollment hours are based on 3-11 credits(part-time); 12 or more credits(full-time). Summer enrollment hours are based on 3-5 credits(part-time); 6 or more credits(full-time). Financial aid adjustments will not be increased for any classes added after the seventh class day.
  • Online courses: Students can receive financial aid for online courses, on-campus courses, or a combination of online and on-campus courses. Students must sign up for all classes before the seventh class day to complete their enrollment status.
  • Financial aid delays: Financial aid may be delayed if the verification process is not complete, or if the student did not specify lender on the award notice.
  • Financial aid disbursements: Excess financial aid will be disbursed after all institutional charges are paid. Normally this occurs some time after the seventh class day. Students can sign up for direct deposit to have their excess financial aid deposited in their checking or savings accounts.
  • Repayment of financial aid: A student who has received financial aid funds and subsequently withdraws, is dismissed or is expelled may need to repay some or all of the financial aid funds.
