BOARD OF GOVERNORS

A great way to meet new people, participate on campus by being involved a little or a lot as well as the ability to earn a credit of enrichment. Anyone can join! BOG acts as the representative board for students on campus. Clubs and organizations send representatives to BOG to represent themselves as well as have a voice concerning student issues that come across the BOG table. The Student Body President chairs these meetings. Various members of BOG travel once a month to different cities in North Dakota as representatives to the North Dakota Student Association. BOG also helps sponsor and provide activities on campus as well as participation in some community service.

THE MYSTICIAN

The Mystician student newspaper is written by students for students every two weeks. All students are invited to join the staff at any time or submit articles, ideas, cartoons, or photographs. The editor and assistant editors receive scholarships from the BSC Foundation. They're willing to explain the paper and find a place for you. Promotes leadership activities, helps students develop individual goals and promotes agriculture. The club sponsors an annual Agribusiness Club picnic in the fall, a Crop and Livestock Judging Seminar and Contest in winter, and a Club Hog and Lab Sale in spring. Members participate in the regional, state, and national Post-secondary Agriculture Student Organization.

The Bismarck State Animation Society (BSAS) promotes an interest in Japanese animation in the surrounding community. There is a weekly showing of Japanese animation.
CAMPUS CRUSADE

The Campus Crusade Club is an internationally affiliated club that offers an opportunity for students to gather, meet new people and fellowship. Campus Crusade provides outreach opportunities in the community too.
ENGINEERING CLUB

Engineering Club members take field trips to power plants, local engineering firms, and the engineering schools at the University of North Dakota and North Dakota State University. Students may also attend local meetings of the National Society of Professional Engineers.
ENERGY OPTIMIST CLUB
The Bismarck State College Energy Optimist Club was formed with the purpose
of spreading health, happiness, and prosperity to the Bismarck-Mandan
community. Members will participate in events on campus, community service
and community involvement (e.g. assist United Blood Services with organized
blood drives), and build and enhance relationships with the energy field
(tour various local and regional energy facilities).

The Multicultural Club's mission is to promote cultural enrichment for Bismarck State College and the Bismarck-Mandan community.
PHI BETA LAMBDA (PBL)

Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) is the collegiate division of the national association, Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda, Inc. PBL is not a social fraternity or sorority. Bismarck State College's chapter of PBL purpose includes leadership, strengthening confidence, developing good working relationships within the community and encouraging community service. Membership is open to any BSC student who is enrolled in or has completed at least one business-related course (including computer-related courses). The State Leadership Conference is held in the Spring of every year for members to compete in various business-related and computer-related skills competitions.

Phi Theta Kappa is the two-year college national honor society. The local chapter of BSC is named Kappa Omicron. The purpose of Kappa Omicron chapter is the promotion of scholarship, the development of leadership and service and the cultivation of fellowship among qualified students of the college. Membership is restricted to candidates completing 15 credit hours at BSC leading to an associate degree and having a minimum GPA of 3.75.
DRAMA CLUB

Drama Club offers students a creative outlet, theatrical and social involvement. Club members work on theoretical productions and present and direct their own dramatic productions. The club takes an annual trip to the week-long American College Theater Festival in January and participates in student-directed spring plays.

This is a great opportunity for students interested in seeing a side of Psychology that isn't provided in the usual classroom lecture or laboratory.
BAND (CONCERT)

Concert Band fulfills the enrichment requirement for graduation and is open to all studnets. Performance groups include Jazz Ensemble and Pep Band, as well as Brass & Woodwind Ensembles. Student may also elect to study privately or to pursue their interest in music education. The band presents a concert each semester and travels during the second semester to designated high schools in the surrounding area.
CONCERT/CHAMBER CHOIR

Concert Choir, which fulfills an enrichment requirement for graduation, is open to all students. Students audition to join Chamber Choir; auditions are held for section placement. Special events for choir members include presenting a Madrigal Dinner. This involves singing music from the Renaissance era, dressing in 16th century costumes, and entertaining guests at a traditional English feast. In December the choir participates in the BSC Choir Festival, which brings a nationally known choral director to conduct BSC students and an honor choir of high school students. The Festival culminates with the performance of a major choral work. Choir members also participate in the college's spring musical. Each year the choir tours high schools and travels to points of interest such as Winnipeg, Regina, Minneapolis, or Omaha. Students on recent tours attended professional performances, such as Evita, Good Night Desdemona, Good Morning, Juliet, State Fair, and The Magic Flute.
INTRAMURALS

Intramurals are a fun way to stay fit, get exercise, and meet other students. The flexible program alternates flag football, softball, tennis, basketball, and a cross country fun run depending on the time of the year. All are open to both men and women.
VARSITY SPORTS

The major varsity sports played by BSC teams are volleyball, basketball, and baseball. Students also compete in golf. The Mystic athletic teams have excelled in all areas and have won National Junior College Athletic Association regional championships. Many Mystic athletes have been selected to All-State, All-Conference, All-American, and Academic All-American teams. Anyone is welcome to try out for any sport.
HOSPITALITY CLUB

Hospitality Club earns its way to the Minneapolis Hospitality show each year by sponsoring raffles and catering banquets and receptions. Some years the club travels to the International Hospitality Show attended by 120,000 people. The club sponsors a booth at the North Dakota Hospitality Show each October in Bismarck.

The GSA Club's primary goal is to provide a safe, respectful and supportive environment for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning (GLBTQ) students, faculty, staff and their allies, on the campus of Bismarck State College and in the Bismarck-Mandan and surrounding communities. The group is a student-run organization open to people of all sexual orientations.
